Image Quality Optimization of Dental Panoramic Tomogram and Lateral Cephalogram: A Pilot Study on Human Skull

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects varying scanning parameters DPT and LC on diagnostic performance quality images. Materials Methods: Clinical evaluations image were performed using an adult human skull with permanent dentition. Dental panoramic tomogram (DPT) lateral cephalogram (LC) images obtained two different radiographic machines Instrumentarium 300OP taken at Sungai Buloh (SB) Sirona Orthophos 3D Puncak Perdana (PP) by tube voltages. Two orthodontic residents assessed based overall a five-point rating scale detection anatomical landmarks. correlations between radiation doses value analyzed Pearson’s Correlation Test. Univariate analysis calculated for evaluation quality. Intra-class Coefficient (ICC) used test intra-rater inter-rater reliability. Results: Both modalities both centers showed negative correlation dosage landmarks except SB. All rated least median 3= more than adequately presented regardless PP (median 5= inadequately presented). Conclusion: Lower should be when taking as appeared darker, lower in less can detected higher parameter.
